Become A Member

The governance structure of the EFJ includes a membership base which is unique among the funds under the Enterprise for the America’s Initiative. The membership is comprised of a wide range of civil society organizations which have a mandate or a stated interest in areas of the EFJ’s own mandate: child development and the environment.

Members are involved in projects, in assisting the EFJ in programme development, and in the annual exercise of nominating persons to serve as NGO representatives on the Board of Directors. The EFJ in turn provides support to members in areas of institutional development, governance procedures and training.

Being a grantee (organisation receiving a grant) of the EFJ does not automatically make one a member of EFJ. Organisations interested in applying for membership must write requesting membership. After a preliminary evaluation by the Secretariat on the extent of the applicant Organisation’s alignment with EFJ’s mandate, they may be required to complete an evaluation form. Application forms are then reviewed and evaluated by the Membership Committee with final decisions regarding acceptance or non-acceptance made by the Board.
